challenge.

The main challenge was designing a mental health app that feels supportive without being clinical, motivating without guilt-tripping, and accessible without overwhelming users.

Key problems identified:

  • Toxic positivity in existing wellness apps dismisses real struggles

  • High therapy costs create barriers to professional help ($200-400/month)

  • Overwhelming features cause decision paralysis

  • Clinical interfaces feel cold and transactional

  • Poor habit formation - 78% of users abandon mental health apps within 2 weeks

  • Privacy concerns prevent honest emotional tracking
